#10 Butterflies

April Showers Bring May Flowers
hosted by: Polished Prisms

Took me a while to get around to this one because I was so indecisive! I finally decided on monarchs but I wanted to punch it up a notch :) Here are my polishes! In order of appearance...

I started with OPI and added a layer of Ulta. Then I wiped most of 'Rising Star' off the brush and used it on most of the nail, leaving alone the top corner. I then used the black art brush and for the think lines and 'Black on Black' for the corner. I used a dotting tool for the white dots. (I still need to buy actual white lacquer!)

Sun- you can see 'Rising Star' sparkling!

OK now for my accent nail!

I am very pleased with this mani! Hope you like it as well. :)

OPI Green & Gold

I waited and waited and finally bought OPI 'Just Spotted the Lizard' and it seemed to be a perfect pairing for SOPI 'Tempted by Teal' which is a brilliant frosty (?) teal with gold running through it.

When I put on the SOPI lacquer the gold didn't show through. It's very subtle and mostly hides under the teal so you only see it when you take it off. It also stains your fingers when taking off. I take my polish off right before I get in the shower so it washed off. :) The downfall of these is they show how bad my nails are. (They've been pealing a lot lately) and also every brushstroke so you have to be purposeful about painting your nails!

Here is my attempt to show you the duo-chrome of 'Just Spotted the Lizard' ... not very successful though. I think it would be easier if I had all my fingers painted with this color.

I really like these colors- even if they weren't as expected. What do you think?

I Brake for Manicures

A while ago I went looking for a dark, slightly grey toned, purple and picked up 'I Brake for Manicures'...
This is not purple at all, it's brown. At first I had a hard time figuring out what color this is because it's so dark but after a while I figured it out. These pictured were taken 1 March so it's taken a while to make it to the blog. All pics were taken in the sun. These dark polished were really difficult to capture and I had taken a LOT of pics but narrowed it down to these. I was playing around and here is the result.

Julep: Jennifer

It's been a minute since I posted. It's the end of a very busy week. I did however use my cuticle remover the other day, but sadly didn't have time to polish my nails until today but I can't because I'm performing tonight and I can't wear nail polish. :( I will be painting my nails when I get home tonight!

Last week I tried Jennifer which came from a Maven box and I really like the color but it goes on very streaky and peels off quickly. :( But here are some pics for you!

#9 Fresh Cut Lawns

April Showers Bring May Flowers
hosted by: Polished Prisms

OK so I decided to have some fun with this one! I had a shirt forever ago that said 'I fought the lawn and the lawn won' and there were eyes peaking out of the grass. I've seen flocking everywhere and I thought it would be perfect for this! I had to go by Hobby Lobby to get some stuff for something else and luckily I found glitter flocking and eyeballs! Yay! This mani totally makes me happy!

Yes, I used OPI Shatter for my base. I don't have regular white. I put a coat of 'Don't Touch My Tutu' to even it out. I think the crackle actually helped give an overall effect with the lettering so I'm happy with it. The flocking made the polish dry VERY quickly. I don't really use the Nail Envy anymore but it's fantastic for using as a glue!

I hope this made you smile. It certainly does for me!

Can't wait to see the other ladies' interpretations...

Julep Kylie Review

I started getting the Julep Maven box and this time we have Kylie, a magnetic polish; Ellie, an opal shimmery goodness; and Ashley, a gorgeous sunset orange.

I'm just talking about Kylie today. Unfortunately the brushes were really messed up which made it difficult for me to neatly apply the polish. The magnet comes across as having straight lines. However, as you can clearly see they are not straight. I am fine with this as I like curves. I wish they were a bit closer together. I went vertical on my pinky and you only see one magnet stripe. As they wear the magnetic polish expands so the lines begin to fade. There are no real instructions for on the packaging. I later found the paper that came with the shipment and I also received an email from Julep with more detailed instructions which is what I ended up doing. This polish is very easy to take off. :)

I did not use the magnet on my left hand but instead put a layer of OPI- It's My Year on my ring finger and it is a perfect combination! Sorry for the blurry picture. I didn't notice when I took these that it was so blurry. I'm not very good at taking pics with my Left hand. :)

Have a great Day!

#8 Matte Magic

April Showers Bring May Flowers
hosted by: Polished Prisms

I find that Matte polish is most noticeable on dark cremes. Since this is a spring challenge I went with a dark hot pink and did a diagonal tape mani to show matte vs. shiny!

The Polishes

You can see how the reflection stops at where the Matte starts. I loved the color combo (just not the bubbles) and once I start stamping I want to use this same color combo! :)

Time to see all the other awesome polishes!
Time to check on the other ladies :)

Flakes!!! Lots of 'em

I'm a bit of a flake hoarder. I have 7 flake polsihes. *gasp! and so I've tested out 5 of them here. Get ready for an awesome flakie ride!

 Presenting the Main Attraction!

and now for the supporting act...

Nails Inc. is under its own and OPI is under the rest of the them. I used 2 coats for FP flakes.

Now for some SOPI Matte Top Coat - pic taken at night. It was very late.

Twisted: about 5 colors of flakes in it.
Asylum: Blue and Orange (if you see green ignore it, I tried to put Twisted on my pointer)
Motley: Green and Blue - like the sea!
The Donmar: shifts gold - green - teal and is GORGEOUS! My fav of the group!
Shine of the Times: orange gold shifting to green at the edges. Very dense flakes.

This was so much fun!

#5 A Rainbow After the Rain

April Showers Bring May Flowers
hosted by: Polished Prisms

So... I'm not really sure what happened but I accidentally skipped #5! I remember thinking about doing it but somehow missed it. Oh well, here it is! I had a hard time with this one. There are sooooo many ways to represent a rainbow. This was my final decision...

I had to get my pastel rainbow in there ;) so it's on my thumb! As I was painting this on I wasn't sure if I would like it but I love it! And I've gotten all sorts of compliments on it! Especially the glitter sami, everyone loves the glitter sami. I like how it breaks up the stripes a bit so they're not overwhelming. :)

Time to check on the other ladies :)
