Nail-Tear Update + Clouds

Last weekend I clipped off my nail as short as it could go because the fiberglass started to peel & break. Granted, it doesn't help that I keep picking at it because I REALLY want it off my nail!

So here is before I cut it

On to some nail art! I kept my middle finger out of the first one. Poor Finger :(
I used SOPI: Casanova (gift)
Finger Paints: Sketchy Character (Sally's 50% clearance!!)
Essence: Shifting Power

Casanova doesn't look like much in the bottle. It's dulled pink color. When I put it on I fell in love with it. It's a great pink for my skin tone and only needed one flawless coat. I may try stamping with it!! Anyway, I absolutely LOVE this pink/brown/gold combo! I may have to use it again!

Now for the pic with the sad finger. ;(

I really can't wait for the nail to grow out...

Pink/Grey Ombre

Good morning lovelies! Continuing on with my Neutral Theme as of late I started trying out my handful of neutral-ish polishes and found that Nails Inc. Porchester Square has a pink/purple tone to it. I therefore decided to do an ombre mani with it. :)

The Bottle Shot: which I sometimes do... :)

Porchester Square was purchased on Clearance at Sephora!

The 2 pinks are more different than the camera picked up but sometimes they look the same.

You may notice the tip of my middle finger- the fiberglass started to ship with clipped my fingernail. :(

Hope you enjoyed my pink/grey ombre! These are fun to do.

Neon Neutrals

I seem to me on a 'Neutrals' kick right now. Not sure what happened! It might have something to do with me not being able to choose a color. I might need to do another challenge to get my creativity back in gear.

Today I have Zoya: Farah for you. This is a 'greige' color that changes depending on the lighting. You'll see below between sun and shade pics.

And then my color-addicted self comes back and I decided to use the neon pink Kiss Nail Art Paint that my boyfriend gave me for my birthday. He is so set on me using the stencils that came with it so I used the flower on my thumb.

My favorite design is the swirl on the middle finger. Do you have a favorite design?

Kreative Blogger Award!

Quite a while ago I was nominated for Kreative Blogger Award by PushingPolish

So with that I am to nominate other bloggers and give 7 random facts about myself. (I think)

7 Random Facts

1) My favorite color is fuchsia but I hate purple. Or I used to. An odd phenomenon about polish is that purple is growing on me. I now like dark purples. :) Teal is another I've never been too fond of but it's also growing on me.

2) In the last coupe years I have moved from being more of a tom-boy (and rarely ever wearing polish, unless it was neutral) to being more girly-girl with polish and heels and skirts oh my!

3) I recently turned 28 which means 30 is feeling closer every day. It's not a bad thing though...

4) I learned to whistle 6 years ago while I was doing a study abroad in London. The song that inspired me to actually learn to whistle was Love Generation by Bob Sinclar. If that isn't random I don't know what is!

5) I want to be fluent in French

6) I've decided I like short nails. It' nice having long nails for once but I want my nubbins back.

7) I've said before that I'm a dance teacher. In the last year I've expanded into pole dancing which is a super fun workout! I would liken it more to Cirque de Soleil as it's a chinese acrobatic art form that has gotten a bad name from a certain unmentionable group of people. The downside of this new hobby of mine is that I can't wear lotion on days I do it. :( I have to remember to lotion my hands before I go to bed and on off days.

Celebrating My Nails!

I mentioned in a previous post that a nice lady commented on my nails. She thought I had fake nails and when I told her my nails are real she mentioned to me that she uses Shellac and her nails are awful. I told her about a few things that I've used and encouraged her to try them out under nail polish for a while and see if her nails will strengthen up and get prettier. It was a nice moment to encourage someone to embrace her nails and make then pretty again so she can proudly display them!

With that I want to take some time to celebrate my own nails! When I started this blog back in February I took some photos of my nails at the time. You can see the original post Here or click on 'naked nails' in my Labels. Here are what my nails look like today. (Before the tear last week)

I can't seem to get rid of the stains :( I've used a stain remover and I ALWAYS use a base coat and yet my nails are determined to be yellow. I'm pretty sure my cuticles hate me too. Oie! I'm just glad my nails are stronger and healthier!

Teal!!

First off, I quite one of my jobs last week! Friday was my last day and now I get to focus on dance all the time now!! So excited!

Now for the nails! I've always wanted to do the glitter accent nail since I first saw it! Well, I finally did!

Today I have 2 fairly new lacquers to me. Both purchased on clearance!
NOPI Respect the World purchased at Target for $2.37
Nails Inc. Fitzroy Square purchased at Sephora for $5

RtW is a very squishy jelly that was opaque in 2 coats! This is the second time I've worn this lacquer and I love it!! I used one coat on my ring finger under 2 coats of Fitzroy Square. (2 coats?!? What was I thinking!!!) To take this off I left the cotton on it for a good 5 minutes and it just came right off!

HELP!!! Nail-Mergency!

I just ripped my nail into the nail bed. I need to find a way to bond the nail together so it can grow out. Any suggestions out there??

Update: Ive heard about the tea bag trick. Any good?

Update:
I followed the fiberglass route. I'm so afraid of ripping my nail off more so I wanted something that would really hold it together. Thankfully there is a salon 1/2 mile from my house! She only put it part way up so I don't have to wait for the nail to grow out. :) Here is an 'After' pic.

Doticure

I'm trying out the blogger app on my iPhone for posting. :) this is a Mani from the other day. I really like the ring finger. Radom is not something I'm good at. I feel the need to have every space covered an everything be equidistant apart!

I used OPI: A Rose at Dawn... Broke by Noon with OPI Ink, Kyoto Pearl, and some NOPI silver for the dots.

What do you think?

Neutral 'Interview' Nails... with a Twist

Good Morning Lovlies!

I really hate being sick! :( I had a cold last week which kept me down because I was sleeping every chance I had so didn't have time to post. I did, however, still paint my nails. I had a chat last week about possible job opportunities and I wanted to keep my nails neutral for this chat. It was kind of an interview but I know the person well so it wasn't like a normal interview. It went well though!! Even though I tried to keep my nails neutral she still commented on how pretty they are. This happened again yesterday with someone else but I'll save that story for later because it's heart warming. :)

I used my favorite neutral so far (and pretty much my only opaque one until I get more from the new OPI Germany collection!) OPI Dulce de Leche!

Here are the pics! The sun pics give a better representation of the color(s).

I decided to add a little something. Can't just wear one color!!
OPI DS Opulence with a bit of NOPI Over the Gold Shoulder

I added some tape nail art the next day or so :)
It makes me think of caramel and cherry chocolate delicacies! Yumm

I used blue painters tape this time. It was nice because it didn't tear and leave bits of tape on my wet nails. However, it didn't leave straight lines either.

I figured you might be wondering how I got the circle on my index finger so I took a couple pics for you! I placed the hole reinforcement on the corner of the blue tape and drew a line. I then used the line as a guide to cut the circle shape. I placed it on my nail and painted then pulled it off.

And for the bottle shot. OPI: IS&ImAC is a darker burgundy/ maroon color. Desert sun is a perfect caramel color that I feel I should be able to eat! You get a better representation in the nail shots.

OMG! I'm so in Love :)

I ordered this oldie but goodie quite a few months ago and never got around to wearing it. I woke up this morning, no wait, yesterday morning and decided I wanted to wear it. I took pics today (so there's tip wear because I didn't have time for a top coat before going to work yesterday) and added some vampy french tips. I am so loving this and don't want to take it off! (except that my lacquer ADD is already wanting to change again!)

So, without further ado I present OPI The Show Must Go On! with OPI DS Mystery!

I thought seriously about stamping over this with black but my SC black doesn't stamp well. Any good lacquers for stamping??

I hope you enjoyed this! I know I do :)

I Eat Mainly Lobster in the Clouds

This is all about my favorite color for the summer! I always want to wear this color because it's so bright! It's like wearing a neon except it isn't categorized as such. It's not overbearingly bright but when you get in the sun it really pops! I added some nail art using NOPI: The Gold Shouder and OPI Turquoise Shatter and Super Bass Shatter. Those last pics were taken in the morning before the sun really came up. I love the end result of this mani and its my first time doing the 'cloud' nail art. I hope you enjoy!

I thought I would try something different today for the way I post my pictures. Do you like it? I'm always interested in feedback to make my posts better. I would absolutely love to hear any thoughts!

Have a fantastic day!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Last Saturday was my 28th birthday :) I decided to do a haul post (for the first time ever) and show the nail stuff I received for my bday.

The polishes in this haul were purchased within the week leading up to my birthday. This is a very long week full of 12+ hour workdays. I've still managed to do some nail painting but haven't taken pics of everything. At the moment my work life is crazy so I'm only taking pics of manis I actually like rather than everything.

The Birthday Haul!!!

I know, I know, I talk about not using China Glaze because it has Formaldehyde in it but I couldn't resist these colors. I got 'Congeniality' for $3! I finally broke down and bought the green shatter, even though I don't wear shatter that often. Ironically, I'm wearing some now. ;) I can't wait to get pics of my current mani so I can post it. Stay tuned!

 The Birthday Gifting!!!

The Kiss Nail Art is from my BF and the rest is from my mom! :)

I haven't tested anything out yet but I certainly plan on it. I have the Kiss set in black, silver, and white and I definitely use it so I'm excited about the neons. The nail pens are also VERY exciting and there's tons of colors. Thanks Mom!

Best wishes,
